PathTracker – Designed To Speed Up Your Scanning Process

PathTracker

Reducing time-consuming scanning processes.

With the ongoing high demand for biomedical scientists, we understand that lab staff time is precious and every minute counts. For an average-sized histology lab, it takes each staff member 42 hours per month to manually scan cassettes or slides and input them into LIS, which accumulates to 21 working days per year that can be more efficiently used in other critical processes where staff are really needed.

As with any manual processes in a high-pressure situation, errors are bound to occur. By automating this step in the process and reducing the time it takes to complete, mistakes can be minimised to avoid missed biopsies or misprocessing.

At Solmedia, our mission is to help you run the most efficient laboratory. This is why we invest time and R&D resources in helping to solve real-world lab challenges, such as time-consuming cassette and slide scanning processes.

Introducing PathTracker

PathTracker, is a bulk cassette and slide scanner designed to streamline the scanning process, reducing the staff input time and time and adding an extra level of security to reduce risk levels. Compatible with your regular cassette baskets and slide trays, barcodes are scanned, reviewed, and registered directly into your LIS, streamlining what was once a manual and repetitive task.

Simply place the cassette basket or slide tray in the designated area below the scanner; where the scanner will automatically recognise all barcodes and identify them on the screen, allowing you to watch what is happening in real time and record them into your LIS. Simply place your cassettes or slides in the PathTracker’s allocated region and hit the start button.  A scan for 150 cassettes / 20 slides is complete within 10-20 seconds.

The system’s built-in corrective tools make it simple to identify and address any unscanned cassettes or slides. The system provides alternative ways to scan these items, such as zooming in on the unscanned sample and rescanning, saving you time and preventing you from having to double-check for any unscanned items. This prevents errors and missed scans during the process. The scan is moved to the database and your LIS system after it has been approved.

Using the workflow modeller, you can map your lab’s procedure from sample receipt to archiving, with PathTracker enabling you to see which step of the process this batch was scanned in. Additionally, it allows you to add custom attributes such as couriers, various processors, microtomes, and embedding systems, along with their numerous associated programs. Completely adaptable to your process and needs, this system gives you total transparency and control over your operations.

We understand that actions speak louder than words, so why not see the PathTracker in action in your own lab?
