90 Year Celebration

As we celebrate Solmedia’s 90th Anniversary this year, we’re gearing up for our Endurathon running from the 3rd– 6th June, a fundraising challenge to support Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team at Solmedia are coming together to help make a difference in the fight against cancer, by collaboratively exercising continuously, both day and night, over the course of 90 hours. We’re honouring each year gone by in Solmedia by challenging ourselves in tough activities, pushing our limits on hikes, on bikes, on water and more!

Every penny raised by sponsoring this challenge will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity we hold close to our hearts.

WHY MACMILLAN NEED YOUR SUPPORT ?

 

Right now, the number of people diagnosed with cancer in the UK is 3 million, but this is projected to rise to 4 million by 2030.

This rapidly growing number of people diagnosed with cancer need access to vital support from day one of their diagnosis, but our healthcare system needs help and it’s failing people with cancer.

NHS cancer waiting times are dangerously long for tests and treatment. Over the last decade, at least 100,000 people have seen their cancer progress, or get worse due to these delays. The good news is, Macmillan are here to do whatever it takes to help ensure people with cancer can live life to the fullest, but we can’t do it alone.

Your donations will help Macmillan deliver personalised cancer support and also fight for the interests of cancer patients by holding UK governments to account and urging them to make the investments the system needs.

 

The impact of your donations

 

Donating £5 could help buy wigs to support people with hair loss to still feel like themselves during cancer treatment.

Donating £10 could help towards setting up a community group for men to give them the space and support they need to talk about cancer.

Donating £20 could help towards providing free specialist counselling sessions if things get too much for someone and their emotional needs become prolonged or intense.

Donating £40 could help set up a project to reach communities currently underserved by cancer support and help identify and overcome the barriers to access, enabling more people to access the vital support they need.

 

 

 

The impact fundraising:

 

Raising £1,000 could provide 5 Macmillan Grants to families on lower incomes. These Grants are one-off means tested financial grants to help people deal with the cost of cancer.

Raising £2,580 could help pay for a Macmillan Nurse for 10 days. Nursing professionals help people living with cancer and their families receive essential medica, practical and emotional support.

Raising £5,180 could help run our Macmillan Support Line for 10 hours, helping around 246 people who want questions answered, need practical support or financial support.
