UltraPlast is recommended for both general tissue processing and embedding and in particular for large tissue specimens or tissue that may normally present infiltration issues with standard PolyWax.
UltraPlast Premium embedding medium has a P.I.B. additive (Polyisobutylene) and has excellent infiltration properties for improved impregnation of tissue. It has a melting point of 54 to 57ºC. It is composed by a unique formulation of refined and highly purified paraffin containing synthetic polymers of regulated molecular weights. This formulation improves tissue infiltration, reduces shrinkage on cooling and gives superior quality sections with minimal compression. UltraPlast gives brittle, difficult-to-section tissue an innate elasticity, enabling excellent, wrinkle-free sections and ribbon continuity.
