This includes not only those working directly with patients, but also those who help to support their efforts, from the cleaners who literally take their lives in their hands, to the laboratory staff who help to furnish doctors and nurses with the diagnoses they need.
Many are already suggesting that society as a whole will alter as a result of this pandemic, much as it did in the two World Wars, and it is our hope that there will be an even greater respect for those whose role is to protect our health.
