NEW Glutaraldehyde Vaportest Badge

Our latest Vaportest Glutaraldehyde Badge joins our family of Vaportest air monitoring badges, providing a lightweight device that easily attaches to your laboratory coat, and collects gas and airborne Glutaraldehyde contaminants for testing.

Why Test for Glutaraldehyde?

Glutaraldehyde vapour can be extremely hazardous to a technician’s health if proper precautions are not taken. Glutaraldehyde is a chemical compound commonly used as a disinfectant, sterilant, and fixative in various laboratory, healthcare, and industrial settings. When used in liquid form or when vaporised, Glutaraldehyde can pose several health risks.

Glutaraldehyde can cause severe irritation to the respiratory system when inhaled. Exposure to its vapours can lead to symptoms like coughing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and wheezing that can lead to respiratory conditions such as asthma.

Contact with glutaraldehyde can also cause skin irritation, dermatitis, and even chemical burns. It is also highly irritating to the eyes, causing redness, pain, and potential damage to eye tissues if not promptly rinsed.

How does Vaportest work?

Vaportest Glutaraldehyde Badges intelligently uses a single charcoal sorbent wafer for the easy collection of organic vapours with analysis by gas chromatography. Lab technicians are able to take a sample of up to 8 hours of exposure. The sample is sent to Solmedia for processing and analysis by UKAS-certified laboratory technicians in which you will receive a certificate of test analysis within 15 working days of the sampling.
